With NinetyforChill.com evolving into more than the rough draft blog for my primary blog, MainEventoftheDead.com needs a new place to test out the formatting of recent blogs. "Main Event of the Dead" is my screenplay about pro-wrestling and zombies. I have a movie website, so may as well have a wrestling site.

How to Smark - AAW "Savages and Kings" and the Unified Gnarly Men's Doubles World Championship

*Blog post was started on August 10, 2021.

How to Smark - AAW "Savages and Kings"

It was an eventful weekend for me. I got to my first indie show in over two years with AAW "Savages and Kings". The show impressed the date who claims the knowledge I have of the business and that I did not seem to be a stranger to the boys was admirable (She stopped returning my texts three days later.).

There could have been a few more masks for my taste, but Chicagoland is a better place in terms of vaccinations. If there was anything for me to complain about, it was the lonely mark who took up a third of the row we sat in. He must have been known. This makes me think about the need to adopt a mark program or charity. Or, we may just need to educate on how to be a smark instead of a goit that Eddie Kingston wishes a car crash upon when he is sending the audience home happy.

If you are just going to trash Colt Cabana, the most versatile wrestler in the world, for not being the sociopath who owes him legal fees, you do not do it by saying, "You're nothing without Punk." Do you even listen to podcasts man? If so, give NinetyForChill - The Podcast a try. I am presuming since the Bullet Club shirt he was wearing seems to be the only shirt that he has worn on the weekends since 2013, the inability to pick up on how Cabana was relevant on his own would not surprise me.

Anyhow, shouting mean shit just to draw attention to yourself is how one obtains X-Pac heat. Sean Waltman has educated feet, so attepting to deck him would not be wise. A skinny punk who looks to be in his late thirties, but more likely mid twenties, not so much. We know what you are trying to do? You want everyone to recognize your perceived cleverness.

I guess that is alright, but I do appreciate wearing a mask since it discourages the spewing of bullshit. To this kid's credit, he was constantly at the concession stand, so he did not come off as a total twat for having a chin diaper. The odds are, he does not take the time to cook at home so nachos and hot dogs are a luxury to him. This may justify the lack of mass on him. We would feel just awful to destroy this little punk to teach him a lesson. Perhaps he has some degree of awareness. Maybe he is just shouting too much to realize he is but a pimple on the ass of the crowd.

It is not like I am innocent of being a lousy mark. Everyone was giving Mike Rotundo "Irwin" chants to get under his skin when he was part of Money, Inc. I thought I would be clever by trying to start Theodore and Teddy chants. Thankfully, I took note of my dad rolling his eyes at me and I concluded my attempts at being a trendsetter. This was an important victory for dad that night. He needed one since the car ride home would be him trying to explain why the disqualification of a banned briefcase did not reward the Steiner Brothers with the World Tag Team Championship (Mike McGuirk declared the referee would recognize a title change in the event of this occurrence.).

Please pardon that long-winded tale when all that needed to be stated as an explanation for being obnoxious is, "I was 12." When I got to 17, I figured that shit out. That was when Bret Hart reformed the Hart Foundation at the Peoria Civic Center. There is obviously no way I was going to boo the Hitman. So I applauded and gave responses like "thank you" and "he is doing this for you." The fans behind me seemed to enjoy shouting at me to sit down. At least they were smiling when I responded.

Cheer the other guy on and praise them. That is the start to being a smark. Just hold off on insulting them. I for one know to try and avoid anything that could be considered a backhanded compliment (Does anyone know what a compliment sandwich is? Grow up a little Internet.). So calling Larry D "Fat Axel Rose" as you beg for him to batter Cabana, just shows you are more about popping yourself than the action.

There were only two matches left. The concessions were closing up. I think the mask should have been on by that point. How I am appreciating Japanese wrestling crowds more and more. Scream in your heart. With that said, what happened to the, "You Fucked Up" chants. Those are easy enough to roll with. Woke softies. Are we not doing "phrasing"?

Thankfully, Eddie Kingston closed out the card, so you best ear muff that little bastard in the front row. There was an old school feeling to that, so let me transition us back to the mid-90's and determine whether the Gnarly or the Too Legit Men's Doubles Champions will reign supreme.

The Gnarly Men's Doubles World and Most Legit Men's Doubles World Championship Unification

Where we left off last week, the Gnarly Men's Doubles World Championship lineage had ran uninterrupted from Starrcade 83 to the 1994 New Japan January 4th Show ("Battlefield" which would eventually become Wrestle Kingdom). Since this was a course correction, my goal was to unify it with the Most Legit Men's Doubles World Championship. Unfortunately, NJPW's Road Warriors knock off held the championship until November of that year and my attempt to start up the Most Legit championship was May with Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan. Unlike the Legit and Two Legit Doubles reboots, I could no longer connect the dots. Here is to hoping I can do that by renaming the Most Legit Men's Doubles World Championship to the Gnarly Interim Men's Double's World Championship.

1st Gnarly Interim Men's Doubles World Champions:
WCW World Tag Team Champions
Cactus Jack (Mick Foley) and Kevin Sullivan (May 22, 1994 to July 17, 1994)

2nd Gnarly Interim Men's Double's World Champions:
WCW World Tag Team Champions
Paul Orndorff and Paul Roma (7/17/94 to 9/25/94)

3rd Gnarly Interim Men's Doubles World Champions:
WWF World Tag Team Champions
Shawn Michaels and Diesel (Kevin Nash) (9/25/94 to 11/23/94)

More Champions = More Interest and Less To Mess Up

FMK: Wrestle Kingdom 15, @Marty Scurll, The OCHO: The NEW Real Secondary Championship

*Blog post was started on January 25, 2021.

I am starting to ponder what will happen when the lobby is finally reopened at the bank. This may as well be a critique of The AV Club and The Ringer. If they could come up with more content, I may not have to come up with blog ideas solely to kill time on the first day back from the weekend.

Of course as I write that, with the bank technically closed (at least the lobby would be which would mean there aside from deposits and withdraws, save your queries for 8:30 am or lunch), everyone pulling up to the drive thru asking about stimulus checks and checking on the status of accounts that were to be opened and depositing into them regardless. To hell with instant karma. Please accept my apologies Bill Simmons.

*Blog restarted on January 28, 2021.

It looks like the previous rant may have just been a case of the Mondays. And it could be stated that I may have just been more productive with myself. Writing out tweets to post through out the week can be very time consuming.

If only I had a reason for all the B-movie posters images I send with some of the reviews. There really is not any use for them outside of those reviews. The right panel on my all blogs have enough odd imagery to serve as decoration. They do beat selling ad space.

Ad space is for NinetyForChill.com - The Podcast. With a need for guests on that podcast, you would not even need to pay a fee for your upcoming plugs and event. Just send me a theme and keep the movies we are going to talk about to under 100 minutes. My email is russthebus07@gmail.com.

I may just not have the same energy. The podcast production can take a toll on me. Trying to nail down guests kind of makes everything a mad dash to make my Tuesday deadline. If only I was confident enough to believe the 10's of listeners come solely for my flat monotone and dry personality, the need to find the appropriate sound bites and trailers would be unnecessary.

If I am frustrated about anything, it is the sense that nothing is going on. We have a respectable president right now and another week till the impeachment trial starts. There is not much to get worked up about, and because of that, a need to focus on my screens be it 6.06" to 43" is lacking. Without podcast needs to meet, is it worth staying up late for?

And of course wrestling is in that holding pattern to. Nothing Earth shattering will be happening out of New York until after Sunday's Royal Rumble. It is great to have Xfinity once the WWE Network migration occurs. If you get Xfinity's cable TV, you get Peacock Premium. Just wish I did not have to pay for $9.99 January and February.

When it comes to streaming services, I do not know how much longer I will have NBCU's service. "The Office" has never intrigued me and with the exception of Championship Sunday, they never show enough Newcastle United. Once my TV package comes up in May, I have my means of getting all I need via streaming. The likelihood of WWE keeping my interest past April 11 is not good.

What will keep my interest...aside from NXT-style matches and booking on Mondays and Fridays? I do not know. They could take the New Japan route and introduce more championships. Wrestle Kingdom 13 had nothing but championship matches with the exception of one. You had to be a top contender or a champion to be on the show of shows. Does that not add gravitas to the event?

More championships would be good for the next WWE 2K simulation game, if we ever receive one again.

One of my favorite things about the game is downloading all of the fan created championships. Downloading wrestlers is fun until you see an updated version or need to pay for the DLC to be allowed to download them. Title belts are usually one and done deals. The biggest challenge is tracking down the side plates they tried before they found the ideal ones for a performer. Did you know Natalya and Jinder Mahal had the plates replaced in their title reigns? Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, and Bray Wyatt seem to get different ones each reign.

Being a wrestler who was coming up in the business during the National Wrestling Alliance licensing its names to indie promotions (NWA No Limits, NWA Midwest, IWA-Midsouth, NWA-Missouri...or so Shane Somers claimed), I found it fun to find out who is the best in a territory, and to see if they got the custom belt made, or just repurposed a WWE replica. The WWE 2K series allowed us to see the classic belts of the territories. This made me want to optimize the game the best I could solely to create territorial shows (Dozer City Wrestling was my interpretation of Peoria).

If only I had an abundance of friends. This if would allow me to easily come up with weekly podcasts and when we are gaming against each other like it was 1992 to 1994 ("Street Fighter 2" to "Mortal Kombat 2") people would make choices just to spite the games owner. You cannot justify Smoke being the Pacific Northwest Champion.

Regional titles sound like a good idea to me when WWE gets back on the road. I for one think every TV show needs a title defense. Maybe if each region had a champion (at worst, there would be 52 of them based on how many loops there can be in a year), the fans would become invested in the champion. You could have a belt collector gimmick. If anything, it gives you a dark match main event.

52 titles maybe a bit much, but why not bring back some of these unique belts.

AAW: Art, Wisdom and Other Things Randy Doesn't Understand

*Blog originally posted to MainEventOfTheDead.com in Sept/Oct 2016.
I think it is difficult to argue the statement that All American Wrestling provides Chicago with the best wrestling. It does not have the perceived outlaw persona of Freelance Wrestling or Resistance Pro, and that is because it does not need it. You buy a ticket, and you are rewarded with the best wrestling showcase the region has to offer.
AAW currently seems to have an over abundance of riches. It may sound foolish to say there is a downside to showing off the best, but the promotion seems to lack identity. The best wrestlers will inevitably get signed to exclusive deals. When that happens, the most talented members of the undercard should be expected to step up to fill the vacant roles. Unless you can just find main eventers from other territories which is what the promotion that developed Tyler Black is ironically doing.
Colt didn't catch my phone useAAW feels like a YouTube Wormhole that you can check out in person, instead of a team you come to cheer on. As pro-wrestling’s premier Cubs fan, I loved cheering on the team for 36 years as they developed into world champions. There were times that I wished ownership would just buy a title, but if that occurred, I would then be bitching about any time they did not win a title. That would make me a Yankee fan who is not from the five boroughs. To those fans, they are not your team.
Who can stand someone who does not think you need to work to win? As a jaded Gen-Xer, that may come across as a implied question about the younger generation, but the wrestling audience right now is millennials. AAW seems to have their fingers on the pulse of the audience, and the dollar makes anything tolerable.
Art is either a luxury or a gamble, and taste determines what you want. I am always trying to create, and the money I spent on failing to produce my motion picture “Main Event of the Dead (I am willing to send out treatments of the zom-com pro-wrestling screenplay. Send me an email at russthebus07@gmail.com)” shows that I like to gamble. This may leave me predisposed to be frustrated at the lack of AAW creative direction. But, the less work you put into make money, the wiser you are. So perhaps you can argue that RPW and FLW may provide better wrestling, but Danny Daniels and AAW demonstrate the wisest wrestling.
The Card:
Paco defeated Connor Braxton.
Jake Crist picks up the win from Myron Reed, Laredo Kid and Joey Janella. With all of the dives, did the AAW faithful catch all at least four Ace Crushers.
Trevor Lee steals one from Colt Cabana. I feel when you face Cabana, you should not focus on your own comedy style. Lee should have been bringing out his X-Division stuff for his opponent to work against. That brings out the best in Cabana.
Davey Vega & Alex Daniels score the fall against Detective Dan Barry & Lt. Bill Carr, and Trey Miguel & Stephen Wolf. This is where the show started to feel redundant. The crowd may have been thinking the same since “…Dive” was the only chant they brought to this match.
Keith Lee earns the hard fought win over Donovan Dijak. This match completed the Rip Roger’s Indy Equation. If “Both These Guys” and “Fight Forever” were not shouted in the first four match were expressed here. It is just proof that AAW’s booking is superb. Lee vs. Dijak was 20 minutes of showing how bumps are overrated. I need to rewatch Lance Storm and Jerry Lynn. Did Dijak have to suffer so many chops to get away from flat backs?
Michael Elgin teaches Former World Champion FKA Jack Swagger what the indies are all about. This match shows why all Indie shows need an intermission. Elgin is awesome which makes up for Swagger being behind the Indy curve. Better placement of the bout could have hid this better from the audience. If Swagger goes to NJPW and catches up with the style, WWE will regret how they let a wrestler with a football player structure leave the company.
AR Fox and Rey Fenix retain the AAW Tag Team Championship from Lio Rush and Shane Strickland’s challenge. I think this could have been the main event instead of another one of Sami Callahan’s brawls. If I was able to get away from the hospitality business more often, I might see that Callahan fighting a challenger all over the venue is not the only main event AAW has to offer.
This was Rush’s debut, so I understand his team not getting the win, but I am getting worn out seeing how the luchadors from Lucha Underground will not take falls. Bringing in a gearless Juventud Guerrera to do the favor for the holder of the “Bestest in the World” does not shake this vibe. But the money that Penta and Fenix bring to the promotion may be why every AAW show is otherwise loaded. I do not think I can win an argument of wisdom versus art.

Heidi Lovelace vs. Matt Cage 3--and a Podcast Pitch

I definitely need some feedback on this idea. Send it to russthebus07@gmail.com@MainEventZombie, or just post a comment (I'm sure you have some kind of Google account). The idea is starting a wrestling podcast with an even nerdier take on pro-wrestling than the not quite "smart" enough (@RosenbergRadio is holding back @AKATheMaskedMan) "Cheap Heat" podcast. My goal would be to try to eventually get picked up by Nerdist (if you don't want me to bug you Hardwick, give me another chance at "Tag Team Thursday" [for alliteration, may be it should be "Tag Team Tuesday"] or stop seeming so accessible on the podcast), or maybe get in on the Grantland turf.

My nerdy gimmick to podcast is to perform a table read of a non-wrestling scene from my screenplay, going for the Cut Scene feel from the NES "Ninja Gaiden" series, after the first promotional break. I guess I'd be trying to top Colt Cabana's "Song of the Week" and trying to encourage more of his "65-year old Jewish Mother Recites a Classic Wrestling Promo" segments.

If Quentin Tarantino is still making "The Hateful Eight" after having a public table read of the script, my concept of broadcasting my story along side a more insightful view on wrestling might be the method to get "Main Event of the Dead" to a big screen. After saying that, I might need to throw in some N-Words to hedge my bet.

Talking about wrestling, I was able to work up the nerve to conquer my anxiety to maintain my commitment to checking out "All Hail," All American Wrestling's poorly named show last night in Berwyn, Illinois (Western Chicago Suburbs). It was a pretty solid card with only subtle things to complain about. So if you're not subscribing to the WWE Network to catch up on your NWA/WCW matches and get WWE Shop promo codes during the "Raw PreShow," save the rest of your money and check out AAW instead of going to a bar with overpriced drinks to view a Pay-Per-View centering around a desperate women's feud between a wannabe fitness model and a wannabe wrestler.

I know that Brie and Nikki have been improving as performers (maybe wrestling talent is a sexually transmitted disease), but I won't call the Bella Twin wrestlers after their alleged treatment of Maria Kanellis and looking like vacant socialites during AJ Lee's Pipebomb Shell. If they're serious about wrestling, they'd let the promo put over the need for improvement in their division instead of whining and doing a "We can't hear you dance."

Sometimes, probably most times, I hate points when there are logical segues. They seem to be there to prevent me from going on rants about the spinebuster replacing the DDT as a transition move or how indie guys really despise Jim Ross's opinions.

Perhaps Dragon Gate and Ring of Honor fans have no endurance, so after the first pop, their wad has been blown and they fail to realize that the bigger pop is suppose to be after the finish. In defense of the match between Shane Hollister, Ethan Page, and Johnny Gargano, where the commentators went on their anti- "Ross Report" tangent, I don't know how in a cruiser-weight/X-Division style match you can actually slow it down.

Perhaps this is why I need my own podcast. Conversations aren't linear, so you can get side tracked and not risk distracting the audience from the point. The need for babyface short cuts must be addressed at some point, but it wasn't in the AAW main event.

AAW Heritage Champion Heidi Lovelace
The segue that I decided to waste was about how Heidi Lovelace and Matt Cage demonstrated how, in Lovelace's words, "You don't need balls to be a champion." My only issue with this inter-gender match (a side from Ray Rice's suspension still being a hot topic [wrong night to where Baltimore Ravens colors]) was that I believe it was supposed to be the blow off the feud. My belief is based on this being the third match between the two in their feud. The way the trilogy ended may suggest that you need testicles for a successful conclusion.

The two had a great match, and Lovelace demonstrated that if we are to believe in Rey Mysterio as a three-time world heavyweight champion, we should believe that Sara del Rey, Cheerleader Melissa, MsChif and Paige (a generation from a Shimmer Championship) can become the World Wrestling Entertainment World Heavyweight Champion. My issue is that I wasn't satisfied with Lovelace winning with a roll up (it didn't seem impactful enough to be a crucifix bomb).

Paige should be the face of the WWE. Imagine the ratings that the female demographics would bring to a promotions that marks are claiming is in dire financial straits. If only I had a good "Money for Nothing" play on words to place here. The best thing about this concept is they ladies will have someone else to cheer for instead of John Cena.

Unless the two combatants are being booked for a fourth match, her championship victory is just a fluke. What reason are we to believe she can repeat this feat again? This could have just been the law of averages proving evident.

This match needed to end with Heidi Lovelace proving she was unquestionably the better combatant. It is like the end of "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" when Luke Skywalker freaks out and beats the hell out of Darth Vader. Luke was defeated once, is emotionally wrecked, but overcomes to be the last Jedi standing. This was repeated in the end of the prequel trilogy with Anakin vs Dooku, but who cared about little orphan Anni.

In Jean-Claude Van Damme films, the final fight (in my favorite films) are three act plays. He shows off his skills, the antagonist shows that he is craftier to virtually defeat our hero, Van Damme miraculously comes back and leaves no doubt that the villain cannot win.

My best feminine equivalent, that comes to immediate mind, is a low-budget film called "Fight Night (originally titled Rigged)" about a conniving manager and female fighter climbing the ranks of the underground prizefighting circuits. I don't want to spoil it, but it follows the formula I wanted to see used. If you want mainstream/nerdy, see the "Underworld" sequels.

In the match from August 15, Lovelace is beaten to a cinematic level of physical despair. She is always able to show that she is not finished, but it was constant heat. It may be considered realistic that her every comeback is thwarted by separation of the two opponents after her comeback. Cage's beating was so severe that she could never recover quicker than him, regardless of who scored the last move.

To conclude, this match was very realistic. Especially when indie fans start lending War Machine chants to Cage. I praise Cage for maintaining a heel role with the sickest chant I've heard at a show. For someone who never saw this pair face of, the finish to this match must be assumed as real as it could be.

But again, this was the end of a trilogy. A trilogy where a crowd is so into the action that they compare the heel to one of the most despicable men in the public light at this moment. I hated Cage in this match for what he was doing, and I wanted to see him broken. Not whining about the inconceivable, but broken, leaving the ring with a referee under his shoulder to support him.

Perhaps I should be further praising Matt Cage for his performance. Since pro-wrestling is dependent on having a good dance partner, Money could have made the protagonist look like a million bucks, but it was evident that Heidi Lovelace provided the best performance as a baby face who needed to tell a story that night.

It may just be the writer in me who just can't get over the story structure, but again I wasn't there for Cage/Lovelace 1 or 2. I just know this could have been the most dramatic trilogy I could have witnessed a part of if creative would have just followed the movies. Then again, if you watch WWE, that may just be considered the wrong approach since Vince has failed trying that at least 90% of the time.

Road House of the Dead: A Call for More Zombies and More Women in Wrestling

I am surprised by my state of mind going into this blog. There was so much real world stuff going on, it kept me out of my head. This is interesting because I have been in touch with my inner Ambrose (a bit of Bierce, a little bit Dean), having the feeling I am one of the few good people in a world of bad ones.

WWE should play on this and make Dean Ambrose an editorialist in the vein of Jim Cornette. This will make sure I keep watching "Raw" on Hulu. Advertise that it will run after the "Total Divas" match, and satisfy the bitter indie guys who want to see another job filled that the Louisville Slugger wants us to remember was his. If that is too much for Ambrose, there's always Colt Cabana. Okay, Scotty Goldman. Jim Cornette's pre-WWE stories are amusing enough, I do not want to bury him that much.

If fantasy booking makes sense, should it be fantasy? From "Main Event of the Dead: The Podcast," this may be the case, if you pull up my college transcripts. In my defense, the transcripts do make sense. I failed logic, hence I failed calculus, and in turn, failed data structures. If you're not going to give me any feedback on how to make "Main Event of the Dead Project" more than a screenplay about socially-insensitive zombies versus $20< wrestling talent, maybe you can offer me some leads on programming jobs that just need the software to work, not optimized. As long as there are companies still using Windows XP, this must be an actual programming standard.

After listening to Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier's "Road House" commentary track, I know that they could use a wrestling podcast. Because failing to mention Terry Funk until the finale, and suggest his career peaked at defeating Norman Smiley for the WCW Hardcore Championship is absurd. If the Nerdist has his wrestling nerd, Smodcast needs the ideal one, "Main Event of the Dead."

Do you not hate it when your hilarious tangents seem to trump the initial message? I curse seeing Jimmy Pardo last night in preventing me from going on about: How many Facebook friends do I still need to unfollow for their "I came from the middle class, so I'm better than you attitude?" Thank the gods they come from a town where all there is to do is drink, so they can't become CM Pop Punks. On the flip side, if they sober up they maybe able to see the plight of making less that $10.10 per hour. At least philosophy wise, I may have company until I pop the cap off a Strongbow. Winning never seems to be in the cards (why I play craps and roulette) but at least I keep my wrestling cred with my cider choice.

I shouldn't complain too much of how busy the "grown up" world makes me feel. When you seem to have had fun, why bitch about it? Because the girl you took out the previous night, whom you been chatting with daily is now giving you the silent treatment the following day--I mean the inevitability that, "Nobody loves me, nobody cares, and when I die, there won't be nobody there...Fuck the world I will deny you." Or complain about lesser wrestling fans with podcast.

Actually, all I can complain about the "Wrestling Compadres Slamcast" was there continual use of their sound board. They had some great guests, but it didn't feel like they talked much about commercial wrestling. Granted, this week sounded like aside from The Rock and Ambrose, their was not much that was missed.

I would like to note that I think the Russian flag stunt backlash maybe legit, or at least should be. Russian-Americans didn't care about desecration of the Soviet flag because they left the Russia that "advised" them to be Soviets. Now that their culture is restored and acting like the Republican Party, you cannot pee on a culture we may not understand...or want to obliterate (Randy the Ram and Hulk Hogan were cooler than Captain Insano anyhow). And I think WWE's reaction, no matter how much seriousness it lacks, may be legit since they cut the incident out from the Hulu broadcast of Raw.

Okay, you can call bullshit since I believe "Survivor Series 1997" was a work. As I learned from Danny Daniels, everything in wrestling is a lie, what hurts us, what we say, what we get paid.

Still. I think we only cheer on political incorrectness because it is a pain in the ass to care about people's legitimate sensitivities (political views aren't if my right wing readers wanna bitch about me). That is why we have stereotypes. I am hoping The Big Show gets the potatoes he was asking for. Or would Rusev and Lana call them beats?

As for "Cheap Heat," they, Peter Rosenberg, just seemed to want the put the podcast in the can. They did choose to address the concept of inter-gender wrestling, and said if it was someone with a Chyna like presence. Rosenberg also said that mascot wrestling was as good as Cruiserweight and Diva matches. And this guy claims to be catching up on the Monday Night Wars.

He may have meant it to insult the current WWE product. I'll have to refer to his media expertise if he is approaching the poor quality in that fashion, but to me it seems he doesn't understand storytelling when Daniel Bryan defeats three (what MMA would call) super heavyweight in one night. If your Divas can't compete with Paige, Natalia, and A.J. Lee, and you will not pull up the NXT girls, put them with guys who can showcase their talents.

Like All American Wrestling does.

AAW's Jawbreaker is Friday night in Berwyn, Illinois. It opens Shimmer Weekend, something that I think deserves a little more attention than Reality of Wrestling @WreslingBuds (unless the cost for coverage is losing Stevie Ray...and to RAW's credit they did a lot for Breast Cancer Awareness this month) because it is the premier showcase of what women can do. AAW will cover the inter-gender matches to make sure all of what women have to offer is represented.

Also, this is my last chance to post my review of their previous show Defining Moment.

Putting Myself Over: Tank Girl/Daffney vs Deadpool/David Flair in WWE Supercard

September 13, 2014

How long can I keep appealing for a wrestling podcast when nothing is happening in the industry? I can claim my personality can trump that, but with few (as in nil) requests for a treatment of the "Main Event of the Dead" script (request by emailing russthebus07@gmail.com) and I know 37 people were interested in my self-deprecating blog from the prior week, my wit may only be self perceived.

May be it wasn't the right time to cut off my cable TV. "@midnight" Hash Tag wars as an act of expression will be tough to maintain.

I guess it's a good thing I like to check out All American Wrestling in Berwyn, Illinois. With the absence of Kevin Harvey due to injury, maybe I can pick up on his pod-casting. Or add some brains that seem to be missing from the entourage for the faction/tag team "We Are Here."

I may have to watch some old MNM matches and Daffney's WCW efforts on the WWE Network to see if Nikki Mayday screaming makes her a good heel valet or not. There just seems to be no motivation behind her character. She didn't seem like much of a heel, just someone trying to gain attention in a cluster muck of an eight man tag. As new AAW Champion Eddie Kingston said, "Indie wrestling is alive and well," too the point where this show would have benefited from four less performers. I mention this because Dan Lawrence and Marcus Crane seemed to be more focused on playing off of her than the match. Not to say that there was a lot of focus since this match seemed to have been thrown together to get all of the promotion regulars (and favorites) respectively.

Her "Tank Girl" apparel is out of place because there were certain subtleties to Lori Petty performance as the character. If it's an homage to the loud comic strip cutaways in the 1995 film, I might understand it, but I think subtle nature was implied even in those since they were in black and white.

http://www.deviantart.com
In the end, I should lay off my critique of her because she might be an aficionado of the actual comic books which, at this point, I cannot claim to be, thus she may have nailed it. That, and does it sound like a good idea to take time out of my day to watch David Flair's work? You cannot even knock her if she's ripping off the "Tank Girl" character. This is because I know that if I tried to put on a Deadpool mask, my sense of humor makes it impossible for me to not be considered a knock off. Then again, my Deadphool is still better than Ryan Reynolds.

It took four paragraphs but I think I have once again proved why I should be "The Nerdist" wrestling guy instead of the "Wrestling Compadres." At least this women in wrestling tangent is promoting someone who is putting an effort in presenting a character instead of an interview with a pretty face (Eva Marie) that acknowledges she's not being developed to know a damn thing about the business. Not Eva Marie's fault (rarely is it with WWE), but if we don't stop encouraging it, where will the space be for Charlotte on the main roster?

And where are there movie reference laced rasslin' rants? That question kind of made me wish I was an Asian stereotype for alliteration sake. Born in the wrong place I suppose. Have I just realized why "I'm So Ronery?"

Since the bold font was turned on, I may as well continue to plead for feedback. If you would like a treatment of my comedic zombie versus pro-wrestler themed screenplay, "Main Event of the Dead," send me an e-mail at russthebus07@gmail.com (I've still got my Comcast Internet, so spam doesn't scare me). Suggestions for ideas on how to promote my proposed film to a point where I feel confident about moving to a crowd-sourcing stage would be greatly appreciated. At the very least, any kind of comment will be appreciated (we all have some kind of Google related account to do so). Would it kill you to take a minute to give me a bull shit "Five Stars" review./?

Since I have a focus on women in wrestling, The Nerdist wouldn't lose anything...except for the attempts to imitate the lamest angles of WWE and the soundboard. To prove that and my uber-nerdiness, lets talk about WWE Supercard, 2K and CatDaddy's video card game for IOS and Android.

I had a more thorough review of AAW's Defining Moment show from September 12, 2014, but I'm running out of space on the page and time at work. Sorry about poor time management. Too busy running off the homeless wandering the hotel's lot...and being distracted by my "King of the Ring" activity on my iPhone. Allow the following to explain as I attempt a first: Getting an iPhone app's 3-Star review read.

WWE Supercard: Addicting Despite Its Flaws (Review #42, so it must be the answer).

It's very simple which makes it a great time killer at work that keeps you away from the social networks.

The flaw is that it doesn't allow you to learn on your own. If you do not read all of the tutorials, which are not easy to find, you will get frustrated as you try to advance. And unfortunately you cannot say 'screw it' and start over again, so you cannot get it right. The e-mail I received from the developer makes it apparent that this game will not address this.

"There is no way to restart or delete your account."

Still, it keeps you busy and doesn't require, or allow, much strategy, so it will continue to amuse you more than any 1 or 2 minute smartphone game can. Because of this, and promises of events, I could not rid my phone of the app.
