With NinetyforChill.com evolving into more than the rough draft blog for my primary blog, MainEventoftheDead.com needs a new place to test out the formatting of recent blogs. "Main Event of the Dead" is my screenplay about pro-wrestling and zombies. I have a movie website, so may as well have a wrestling site.

Queen of Wednesday, the 1998's Interim King, and the Screwjob Was a Work

*Blog post started on October 28, 2020.

Oh the things you will write about when time crawls. And a stimulus will not occur till January at the earliest if ever. I just need the traffic. Too bad my station has a tablet and desktop at it. It would definitely look like I am not doing my job to have a laptop out on top of that.

On top of coming up with stuff when time is crawling, I have gotten myself into a situation where I need freshish wrestling takes. My "Ring Draft - Monday Night Raw 2020 - I Can Book with That" post held up pretty well (Just one more episode will prove I am a soothsayer.) from the time it was posted to when I started tweeting that out, but when I do not engage with the WWE product directly (Tony Khan needs those numbers.), I am starting to question my expertise on the business as a whole. My failure to use my remaining vacation days to catch indie shows does not help, but NJPW World still needs my time.

For my readers who solely follow MainEventoftheDead.com (I may need to spread out my promotional tweets over all for of my Twitter handles (@russthebus, @catbusruss, @ninetyforchill...I suppose this one should get a third of them for the accompanying website NinetyForChill.com, but my primary website needs @maineventzombie.), I do need to provide a decent amount of content per post to warrant the forwarding on to a sister site (like Russ's Remnants of Anime or Disgruntled Real Championship Wrestling). Fortunately, there has been a wrestling title change that needs to be addressed before I tell you why Bret Hart was not screwed in 1997, at least in terms of his WWF departure.

The 47th Current Disgruntled's Real World Women's Champion:

AEW World Women's Champion Hikaru Shida (Reign began on 10/25/2020):

After the lengthiness of the Bayley versus Sasha Banks storyline and a near five-star match to conclude Bayley's reign, I understand if you think this is the wrong decision. Especially after acknowledging that I am a devotee of AEW. Obviously, I must ask you to hear me out.

Banks has never defended her championship successfully since NXT five years prior. Hikaru Shida's defeated the best big woman, Nyla Rose, to earn the championship and proved to be superior than NWA's champion, Thunder Rosa. The word on the street is Thunder Rosa has signed with WWE, so they cannot trade wins, so AEW has themselves a more legitimate champion than a past Real Women's Championship. Banks can blame WWE talent relations for me not choosing her.

Time is definitely going to tell when it comes to who is the better champion, but I think Bank's reign cannot end before Shida's to take this title.

Now, I would like to suggest that Io Shirai may have a better claim than Banks. When then NXT champion Shayna Baszler won the triple-threat match between the past two champions, Becky Lynch and Bayley, it showed that the NXT title should be on the same level as Raw's or Smackdowns. But, she failed to hold the title longer than the other title holders and falling to Lynch at WrestleMania. With no title being on the line at the past Survivor Series, what were the real stakes?

You can refer to my "The OCHO or the Disgruntled's Real Secondary Championship" and say that I made Roderick Strong a part of that history because of his success at the 2019 Survivor Series over WWE's US and IC champs. But, the champions he beat lost their titles before he lost his. He proved that his reign as North American Champion was not a fluke. Hence, Baszler did not elevate her championship, so Io Shirai cannot qualify yet.

When it comes to the other gender's Disgruntled's Real Champion, it all depends on what you believe in terms of kayfabe. Did Bret screw Bret? I think his pay days say otherwise.

"Wrestling with Shadows" Is a Docudrama at Best.

I was doing my damnedest to cheer on WCW through out the rest of the Monday Night War. It was difficult come the Russo Era of that company, but I was also spending my late teens and early 20's at home on Friday nights to watch "ECW on TNN". That was the promotion I dedicated myself to, so hoping for the fall of WWF while enduring two awful hours of television on Mondays was bearable as I looked forward to Friday to wash it all away.

This all also shows I am a bit odd for choosing not to party with my friends in the name of the lead in to "Roller Jam". If only "American Pie" did a better job emphasizing the importance of getting laid.

I guess I never transitioned back to normal immature stuff. By the start of my sophomore year, wrestling was what I wanted to do with my life. There was no point getting hooked on Peoria tail when the action was in Philadelphia. Also, being a Sega Dreamcast mark made things easier along side the awful FMW tapes. And when you are watching tapes multiple times, you start to see things you are meant to.

Like Julie Hart trying to become eligible for an Oscar as she berates Hunter Hearst Helmsley after the screwjob occurs. Or the sound quality of the hidden microphone. Every overly prepared interaction when the camera was rollingbrvm. I can go on and on, but it all comes back to the first lesson Danny Daniels taught me about pro wrestling.

Everything is a lie. You lie about everything. Do not put yourself in a position to hurt yourself. You lie to the crowd. You lie about the money you make.

It is interesting looking back on this. These paraphrased teaching came from a lesson about taking the buckles. Primarily, do not actually connect with them. He did not have an answer to our obvious question, "How else did Bret make it look so good?"

The Interim Disgruntled's Real World Championship

By saying that the Montreal Screwjob was a work, the title had changed hands in a legitimate match. It was a bullshit finish, but that does not disqualify Shawn Michaels from having a claim to the DRCW World Championship. I think Shane Douglas is more deserving of the title when Hogan lost it at Starrcade 1997, but his reign having so few defenses  in spite of the length means another DRCW belt needs to be created.

Abolish Divas and the Police. The Disgruntled's Women's Real World Champion Part 3

*List started being comprised on 6/24/20. Intro on 7/2/20.

I have lost a week with my recent move. This AEW mark did not even try to force himself to watch Fyter Fest Night One because he had only gotten 50 minutes of sleep the prior morning. For a second there, my fears were that a title change would had occurred, but this is not the last installment of the list.

When it comes to the current wrestling scene, I do not think that I have much to talk about. Was the COVID-19 outbreak a means for WWE to try to draw attention away from #SpeakingOut? Or was the coronavirus a clever way to kill off Fyter Fest Night Two's main event? My thought was that it was Vince McMahon's way to encourage Tessa Blanchard to sit out her contract with Impact like he did with Hulk Hogan and the AWA.

Speaking of Impact, I think it is good that Michael Elgin was released. If it would not have happened, he would have gotten away with his indiscretions by being flushed out ahead of the curve. With Will Osprey still being in NJPW's product advertisements during the New Japan Cup, it leaves me to believe the non-English speaking world will be a little more forgiving of controversies. No matter what the crime, if the state (prison) is not taking care of you, the opportunity to make a living needs to exist. But, making that money does not have to be as easy as it once was.

It does lead me to wonder if I should be as sympathetic to the accused as I have been. Until the victims spoke out, they may have been living in a life of ruin. I am not a fan of an eye for an eye, but it seems fitting for some ruin to be bestowed on those who have done them wrong. Those who allowed me to be assaulted seem to be living lives with elements that I envy. The world is definitely unjust if they can provide for a family while I am bound to end up fighting with my folks about keeping the cat my ex has walked out on (It is a question of cost. He likes to claw apartment molding. His balls were taken away, give him that.).

Thinking about her cat and his lack of reproductive utilities, castration has come to mind as a means of penance for being a predator, but you cannot wrestle with bitch tits, hence no living can be made.

This also makes me think about how certain veterans in wrestling say you need a Plan B. If asked, I would say no to that. But what if you cannot wrestle. If it is not an injury, there should not be a reason you cannot wrestle. Just do not be a predator.

I guess what needs to happen is that we ask the victims what they want to see done to the offender, and promoters get together to agree on a reasonable suspension. We cannot say never to the wrong doers. They will have no reason to reform themselves.

The real solution is that we need the world to be open and encouraging to listen to victims when they have been attacked and have a system that will make it a point to pursue these accusations. With all the unprocessed rape kits, it is just another call to abolish the police. They are not using the funds right.

We need a new system that will not exclude the past. In wrestling, I do not know how to serve the victims while not executing the careers of the accused. Perhaps Stephanie McMahon has the answers. She is responsible for the Women's Evolution ending the Diva's era, right?

The 29th Disgruntled's Real Women's World Champion:
NWA World Women's Champion Christie Ricci (9/17/06 to 3/27/2007)
Trish Stratus would win the belt only to retire with it on the next night. JPW Joshi Puroresu's Azumi Hyuga would lose her title on September 18, so to recognize a one day reign of the Real Women's Champion seems pointless. The NWA's championship was finally coming into the fold and had out lasted the Fabulous Moolah trained talents in favor of soon to be stars in Shimmer and the Total Nonstop Action's Knock Out's division. The term diva is also a year away in the WWE.

The 30th Disgruntled's Real Women's World Champion:
NWA's MsChif (1/27/07 to 5/7/07)

The 31st Disgruntled's Real Women's World Champion:
NWA's Amazing Kong (5/7/07 to 4/27/2008)

The 32nd Disgruntled's Real Women's World Champion:
NWA and Shimmer's MsChif (2) (4/27/08 to 4/11/2010)

The 33rd Disgruntled's Real Women's World Champion:
Shimmer's Madison Eagles (4/11/10 to 10/2/2011)
The Shimmer Championship was the first title that MsChif had lost. She happened to lose it to the number one wrestler on the "Pro Wrestling Illustrated" Women's 100. The WWE's Women's Championship was unified with the Diva's Championship which lead to what is generally regarded as the lowest time for WWE's women's wrestling.

The 34th Disgruntled's Real Women's World Champion:
Shimmer's Cheerleader Melissa (10/2/11 to 4/23/2012)
It can be argued that Beth Phoenix as WWE Diva's Champion should be included in this list. Until AJ Lee's Pipebombshell promo, this title reign may be the most important of the Diva's championship. It is the first reign to give the title legitimacy since she was not a model or associated with the WWE training program. Mickie James did hold the title before this, but she was only competing against models and there was no wrestling foil. If Phoenix and James competed against each other, the Diva's Championship may have had legs to stand on. The title's association with models and there always being superior champions in Shimmer during the Diva's divisions existence, I feel we can ignore recognizing it.

The 35th Disgruntled's Real Women's World Champion:
Shimmer's Saraya Knight (4/23/12 to 4/6/2013)
Beth Phoenix lost her belt to a Bella Twin.

The 36th Disgruntled's Real Women's World Champion:
Shimmer's Cheerleader Melissa (2) (4/6/13 to 10/18/2014)

The 37th Disgruntled's Real Women's World Champion:
Shimmer's Nicole Matthews (10/18/14 to 10/10/2015)

The 38th Disgruntled's Real Women's World Champion:
Shimmer's Madison Eagles (2) (10/10/15 to 6/26/2016)

The 39th Disgruntled's Real Women's World Champion:
WWE's Women's Champion Charlotte Flair (6/26/16 to 7/25/16)
Mercedes Martinez would end up failing to defend the Shimmer Championship successfully, but wound up winning it back the same Shimmer Weekend, so questionable booking resulted in WWE regaining the Real World Championship.

Pinterest
The 40th Disgruntled's Real Women's Championship:
World of Stardom Champion Io Shirai (7/25/16 to 7/21/2017)
World Wonder Ring Stardom has really only had one prolific (double digit defenses) champion before this reign and that was Shirai. Shimmer was just more established at this time. WWE in the meantime focused on swapping their championship between Flair and Sasha Banks, so there were very few successful title defenses.

The 40th Disgruntled's Real Women's Championship:
Shimmer's Mercedes Martinez (7/21/17 to 9/4/17)
Martinez title reign is closer to a year with nine title defenses. The Stardom Championship's combined defenses was five. Raw champion Alexa Bliss was poised to make a title swap for another defenseless Sasha Banks reign. Naomi won the Smackdown title to pop her hometown WrestleMania crowd in a multi-person, one-fall bout.

The 41st Disgruntled's Real Women's Championship:
WWE Smackdown Women's Champion Natalya (9/4/17 to 11/14/17)
The Mae Young Classic allowed the Shimmer champion and the champion to follow, Nicole Savoy, to be beaten by WWE's talent which lessens the title's value. Stardom's champion Toni Storm also failed to win the 2017 classic. As WWE was working towards the plan for women to headline WrestleMania, recognizing the Shimmer title over theirs would downplay how far women's wrestling had come in terms of audience size.

The 42nd Disgruntled's Real Women's Championship:
Smackdown's Charlotte Flair (2)(11/14/17 to 4/10/18)

Here is to hoping that the next edition of this list does not result in another 14 championship reigns.
